All this talk about…

Arianna Babies! Well, I have to say that at the very least, the subject has us thinking about starting a family and understandably so.

Apart from the fact that our cousin is pregnant, our good friends just had a baby, and 9 out of 10 couples around us has kids, we’ve talked about it for the past 15 years and neither one of us is getting any younger.

Babies. Babies. Babies!

Okay, maybe one baby wouldn't be so bad, right? I mean, couples have “Oopsy” babies all the time and they manage to make it work, especially with the economy the way it is.

The problem with us having an “Oopsy” baby is that we would have to plan the entire event. Kind-of takes the element of surprise out of the equation, doesn’t it?

Rationally, I can think of a thousand reasons not to have a baby, but the truth is that I can think of that many reasons why we should.

Nothing is official so don’t get your hopes up, but I would love some input and feedback.

  2. Uh, Anne, have the grand kids first. They're just sooo much more fun. *G*

Yeah, I'm a big help. LOL

Okay, seriously, if you have doubts, the kind of doubts as to whether you could actually spare the time, want to give .... up, or it'd cramp our style, then possibly kids aren't for you. It takes a really brave couple to NOT have kids when they think they might want them. Might is the big word here.

I've got two. If I'd had number 2 first, I wouldn't have. She's a dream, he's...uh...interesting. Always has been and always will be, no doubt. I love both with all my heart, but there were times I could have slit my throat after slitting theirs. It's a huge investment of time and money, heart ache and breathless wonder at this being you and you're love have nurtured.

It's very easy to sit back and give advice. I guess you have to ask yourself why you want a child. If you decide the answer is good, and you're up for the battle, then dive in and enjoy.

    Hugs

  3. Well, I can't think of a more perfect couple to have kids. With wifey being a doctor, he would get the best of care and you Annie, would be a wonderful parent, very doting. Go for it!!!

  4. Aw, shucks Marc. I wish wifey were a doctor. Wouldn't that be something!

Her parents are both doctors and she works at their office, but she isn't one, yet. I'm trying to convince her to keep up with the family traditions. LOL

  5. You know, I would say don't feel like you "should" have a child just because all your friends, neighbors or relatives are currently having children. That is never a good reason to bring a life into the world. It doesn't fix relationships--and often times it can cause a floundering one to completely collapse. Raising children is stressful--painful truth #1.

But you know, there are lots of children out there who are in need of parents--foster kids. They deserve a warm and welcoming home. No, they're usually not cute little cuddly babies, but that doesn't make them any less in need of love. So if you think you're both up for it, look into foster parenting. It could satisfy that "baby need" and you'd be helping your community and some kids who deserve a break. :)

  6. Celine, I completely agree with you and believe me, we would never have a child only because others around us are and no, it's not a reasonable way to fix a relationship. I hope couples don't have children for those reasons. That would be irresponsible.

We've talked about having kids for a while now and you're right, there are many kids who are in need of a loving foster home and/or adoption. :0)

    Thanks for the input. :0)
